2nd LabourTransfer School: Establishing Links Between Research and Activism
Between June 15 and 19, the "2nd LabourTransfer Summer School: Establishing Links Between Research and Activism" took place in Buggerru, Sardinia, Italy. Over sixty activists from the labor movement, academics, and doctoral students from around the world participated.
The aim of the summer school was to establish connections between the work of scholars dedicated to labor studies and the labor movement and the activism and militant work of unionists and grassroots activists. The event featured mixed roundtables on topics such as labor history and labor anthropology; labor regimes and ecology; labor legislation and activism; technology and work organization; social reproduction, care, and feminism; and knowledge-building with workers. Discussions on these themes were integrated with workshops led by the participants, with the goal of identifying new areas of debate on issues related to worker education, just transition and climate change, capitalist development and business systems, institutional and grassroots union action, and other topics relevant to contemporary labor movement action and organization.
